Technology transfer from small-scale laboratory tests to large-scale industrial productions is always challenging. While many things can go wrong during the process, there are also some nice and interesting surprises, which we probably never learn in laboratory.
Recent results from laboratory tests at University of Western Australia and carbon fibre pre-preg production trials in China will be presented and discussed. The parallel R&D activities show the difference between laboratory tests and industrial productions.
While, in principle, epoxy matrix toughening using nano-particles and CNT or graphene, and interleaving using micro-length or short fibres or electrospun continuous nano-fibres frequently tested in laboratory can be incorporated into large-scale carbon fibre pre-preg production in some way, production hurdles do exist. The joy is to over those difficulties and push R&D forward.
報告人簡介
胡曉智教授,1982年畢業于東北大學,1988年獲澳大利亞悉尼大學機械工程專業博士學位,現為澳大利亞西澳大學機械與化工學院應用力學與先進材料方向的終身教授。兼任澳大利亞斷裂協會主席、西澳華人科學家協會主席及全澳華人學者聯合會副主席等職務。曾在美國國家標準與技術(NIST)、德國尤里希研究所、悉尼大學、瑞士聯邦理工學院(ETH-Zurich)研學與工作。胡曉智教授長期致力于疲勞斷裂及材料學科相關理論與試驗研究,主要研究領域包括:脆性及準脆性材料斷裂的尺寸效應模型;焊接金屬材料的疲勞;層狀復合材料的短纖維增韌;碳纖維與金屬材料的聯結;界面處理與粘結;生物陶瓷和牙科復合材料;多孔生物陶瓷涂層;壓痕斷裂模型;層狀材料的接觸損傷等。胡曉智教授先后主持澳大利亞ARC基金(相當于我國的國家自然科學基金)10項。已在國際著名學術期刊上發表學術論文近300篇,其中SCI收錄論文200多篇,H-index高達34,EI收錄100余篇。
